Email marketing is far from dead. However, the methods have changed since 2005, and it’s time to get up-to-date with the current email marketing trends. When you understand what works in 2016 you are going to see a lot more success with the emails you send.

Simple Email Design

There are so many devices we use to check our email. The size and shape of these devices are different so the emails you send out need to look good on all these devices. So when you are designing your email campaign keep it simple and test the design on different devices.

Use Social Media to Grow Your Email List

If you use the Internet you have an email. If someone is on a social media website then they will have an email. They have to, otherwise they would not be online in the first place. Therefore, you should use your social media sites to grow your email list. One of the best sites to start building your email list is on Facebook.

In 2014, Facebook introduced the “call to action button.” The button is designed to bring you most important objective to the forefront. The button will link to any destination on and off that will line up with your business goals. There are currently seven call to action buttons available: Book Now, Contact Us, Use App, Play Game, Shop Now, Sign Up, Watch Video.

Location Specific Email Marketing

You should use location specific marketing to reach the right people at the right time. This is especially important if you have a global market. Targeting specific locations whether it’s through an email or an offer will create a personal connection with your customer base. It’s the millennial generation. We like to feel special.

Dynamic Customization

The emails you send to your customers need to be relevant to them. Dynamic customization creates a web experience for individual users. Whereas traditional links and web design will take everyone to the same home page, dynamic customization creates a unique experience for everyone. Amazon is the best example of this. When you log into your Amazon account (don’t pretend you don’t have one) they have lists of recommendations. Those recommendations are only visible to you and are based on your previous purchases. We should all want to offer this experience to our customers.

Predictive Intelligence

Predictive Intelligence is a method of delivering unique experiences to unique individual. Predictive intelligence allows marketers to observe the behavior of their customers. This gives you, the marketer, a better understanding of what your customers are interested in and then send them customized content. While it sounds like personalization, it’s not. Predictive intelligence runs on a series of algorithms to deliver the best content to each individual. It knows what the customer is going to do and creates a recommendation based on that behavior.

Final Word

Email marketing isn’t dead but it has changed. It’s changed the same way we’ve all changed. We’re at a time in place where we receive information from so many different directions it’s important to know how to make yours stand out.
